Climate change is not only an environmental problem. It is also a human one. People still care. What they have lost is the sense that their own part adds up to anything.
Caring was never the thing in short supply.
The thesis
The company
ClimateCurrent OÜ runs a membership platform for climate action. Membership is free. Members decide for themselves whether to contribute, how much and for how long, and they can stop at any time. Companies take part under their own agreements.
ClimateCurrent uses contributions to support projects that reduce or remove greenhouse-gas emissions, and reports openly on how contributions are used and what they help to achieve.
A contribution is a gift that supports this work, not a purchase.
The cycle
For decades people have recycled, donated, voted, changed their habits and backed climate initiatives wherever they could. Emissions kept rising. They watched targets postponed, policies turn over with every election, and record temperatures arrive on schedule.
So a belief took hold, and it was not unreasonable. The less people believe their actions matter, the less they take part. The less they take part, the smaller the collective effect. And the smaller that effect, the more the original belief is confirmed.
ClimateCurrent exists to break that cycle.
Who it is for
The platform is for people and organisations who want their concern about climate change to lead somewhere.
Contributions
Contribute monthly, from €9.90, or make a one-off contribution, from €2 (or the equivalent in your own currency), by card or SEPA Direct Debit via Stripe. You can stop a monthly contribution at any time from your account, and a payment made in error is refunded in full. Payments appear on your statement as CLIMATECURRENT.
